Now What? First-of-its-Kind Writer’s Guide Launched at 2014 AWP Conference

SEATTLE, FEBRUARY 28, 2014 – Now What? The Creative Writer’s Guide to Success after the MFA, the first-ever multi-genre writer’s guide authored, edited and published exclusively by writers for writers, launched today at the 2014 AWP (Association of Writers and Writing Programs) Conference. Aimed at graduates of writing programs and serious writers everywhere, the eBook is available on the Kindle platform, with paperback launching by early summer. The Fairfield University MFA Alumni Association discussed the guide’s development at an AWP panel discussion on Saturday, March 1st, in the Washington State Convention Center.

A unique blend of practical advice and creative inspiration, Now What? combines personal essays, editorials, poetry, fiction, articles, instruction, checklists, and glossaries of key industry and legal terms, each based on the personal experience and hard-learned lessons of MFA graduates or faculty members. This comprehensive resource created by 46 writers of fiction, nonfiction, and poetry is designed to help aspiring authors of all kinds not only survive but thrive as lifelong writers.

As a collaborative, all-volunteer publishing project created exclusively by alumni and faculty of the Fairfield University MFA in Creative Writing program, Now What? represents a new paradigm in guidebook publishing. Based on the real-world experience of former graduate students, it shares wisdom, instruction, and time-tested tips for making writing a permanent part of one’s life, whether as a career, a hobby, or anything in between.
